Causes of Snoring-The Causes Are Varied But the Solution is Almost Always Natural

Author: George Mitchell

So what causes snoring? Many people are wondering this same thing, so that they can best know how to go about treating it.

There are millions of people the world over that suffer from this condition, particularly men. Fortunately, there are plenty of things that can be done to combat it.

First off, this habit is caused by your air passage ways reducing and contracting. Therefore when the air comes through them, it creates a vibration sound that is known the world over as snoring. Your air passage can get smaller for a variety of reasons.

This is why no one solution is the answer to everyone's problems, because what causes snoring is different for each person. The reality is, you probably will need to experiment with one or more solutions before you find the answer as to what helps you stop.

In all but the most extreme instances, there are natural means you can use to stop, and one of the best is just exercising.

First off, often times one of the primary causes of snoring is being overweight. Obviously, many people find it very difficult to work exercising into their busy lives, due to work obligations, as well as other commitments. The result is that their weight suffers, and this habit is often a side effect of this.

The technical reasons people with excess pounds snore worse than others is that they have a higher percentage of fat around their neck, which acts as a block to the airflow. Therefore, one solution (maybe not the quickest) is to lose weight. True, this might take some time, but the long term health benefits that come from it, least of which is to stop snoring, will be more than worth it.

Even if you do try an immediate fix, such as a mouthguard or snoring pillow, I would highly recommend you lose weight for a long term solution. Are you really saying you can't find ten to fifteen minutes to go running during the course of the day?

May people are unaware that their physical conditioning level affects whether or not they snore, but it really does. Just getting in better shape is often times good enough to help you stop without buying any sort of products.

Even if you aren't overweight, just working out can actually reduce fat in the muscles that take part in the breathing process, which often is enough to help you stop right off the bat.

At this point, you might be worried that you will have to run a marathon everyday, but actually, working out doesn't have to be that hard.

As long as you so something on a consistent basis, it should be sufficient to do the trick. Make sure you pick workout that will be fun, ideally a sport. Let's face it, running on a treadmill does help you get in shape, but who wants to just stare at a wall for fifteen minutes? How likely are you to do this for the long haul?

Also, consider changing up your routine everyday now and again to help you stay excited about the workout. One day you might play basketball, the next day you might go for a run in the woods. Just keep changing the routine, and it will help you stay focused.

The other kind of workout is actually targeting the snoring related muscles, and while I'm not going to get into specifics, just doing an internet search will turn up workouts that exercises that focus on these. However, just getting started doing something is the important thing.

The workout doesn't have to be that complex, because often times just being in better shape is enough to help you stop. Now that you know the causes of snoring, the best solutions are almost always natural, and make sure you start exercising immediately and don't put it off.

Anti Snoring Devices Uk

What To Look For In An Anti-snoring Device

Author: Thomas Wilson

Anyone who has a snoring problem - and often members of their family - will tell you how desparate they can get to find a solution. While snoring itself isn't a health condition, it can be a symptom of many illnesses. It can lead to lack of sleep, stress and accidents, not to mention its effect on relationships.

The search for a cure has led to many different devices that claim to help you stop snoring. Some of these are more effective than others. Because there are multiple causes for snoring, there's no single device or cure that will work for everyone.

Before buying any anti-snoring device, do your research. If you understand what's causing your snoring, you'll be able to tell whether a particular device is going to work for you or not. Look for recommendations from registered doctors, testimonials from other people using the device and make sure there's a money-back guarantee.

Double-check the safety features of any device you're considering. If it includes any warnings or contra-indications, take heed and make sure the product is going to be safe for you to use.

You're going to be sleeping while you're using the device so you need to be sure there are no safety concerns.

Many devices are sold over the internet, but if at all possible find a store where you can actually touch and feel one. You're going to be wearing this thing for a number of hours, so you need to be sure you'll be comfortable with it.

Check the design and quality - does it seem like it's well made and will work as advertised? When you roll over in your sleep, will it roll with you?

What about the cost - is it affordable? If the price is high, does the manufacturer offer a guarantee of some sort? How much time will you have to try it out and refund it if is doesn't work for you?

If you have a snoring problem, it can be tempting to try the latest and greatest device but you can waste a lot of money without taking the time and effort to check them out beforehand. Remember, the website/email/store that is selling it to you isn't always the most unbiased source of information!

Snoring Problem In Children

July 1st, 2010

Are Your Kids Going To Inherit Your Snoring Problem?

Author: Thomas Wilson

If you have a snoring problem, you might be wondering if it can be passed on to your children. Unfortunately, the answer is yes. According to research published in the journal "Chest" children with at least one parent who snored are 3 times more likely to snore themselves (compared to children whose parents did not snore).

Snoring can be a warning signal for an affliction known as Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). OSA causes breathing to stop while sleeping, due to obstructed air passages.

Snoring is a sign of difficulty breathing, but it is breathing at least. OSA can cause the sufferer to stop breathing for periods of over 10 seconds while sleeping, which then causes them to wake up gasping and choking for air.

This isn't only a problem in the night either. OSA often leaves its victims with sore throats and headaches when they wake up in the morning. Lack of sleep due to OSA can lead to lack of concentration, bad behavior and general irritability.

If OSA goes untreated, it can lead to an increase in blood pressure, low oxygen levels in the blood and a greater chance of heart attack and stroke.

In the study done by "Chest", 681 children from Cincinnati Childrens Hospital medical center were studied. The research also found that African-American children were about three times more likely to snore than other races.

Plus, it was found that children who test positive for Atopy (an indicator of allergies and asthma) were twice as likely to snore as those who tested negative.

The benefits of the study include identification of children who snore so the doctors could more accurately determine those that were at a higher risk of sleep disorders. This would allow them to work with the parents to help minimize any long-term damage, at the early stages or even before the problem materialized.

Do Large Tonsils Cause Snoring

June 10th, 2010

What Causes Your Snoring & What to Do About it

Author: Don Levy

Snoring is the noise caused by parts of your throat vibrating as you breath. Snoring only happens while you are sleeping because this is when the muscles are most relaxed. When the muscles are relaxed the components in your throat drop down to block the normal airflow through the passage which has been narrowed. The air moving through this narrowed passage is what causes the snoring.

Remedies for snoring are often very apparent. Other times they require extensive studies on factors that are related and can either aggravate the problem or cause the condition. Some of the more common causes along with simple ways to cure them are listed below.

1. Overweight-Its well known that many people in the United States are overweight due to not exercising enough, eating too much or a combination of both. Its common knowledge that that overweight people are more apt to snore than ones that are slimmer. The primary cause of their snoring is because their throats are fleshier and therefore have more blockages that can narrow the air passages. The simple way for an overweight person to cut down on their excessive snoring is to lose some weight.

2. Alcohol-Drinking alcohol relaxes the throat muscles which as we learned will be the immediate problem of excessive snoring. By eliminating any alcoholic beverages just before bedtime you can avoid many of the problems associated with the snoring.

3. Smoking-There are many reasons not to smoke and among them are the modification to your throat. Over time mucous will build up in the throat to ease the smoke and nicotine passing through it and reduce inflammation. A larger than normal amount of mucous can be released which will cause the small blood vessels in the lungs to swell along with the throat. When this happens the air ways are again being blocked causing the increased snoring. Sleep apnea is also a problem caused by these blockages and can cause breathing interruptions. These interruptions are caused by irregular breathing patterns. This results to snoring and poor sleep.

4. Sleep Patterns-Going to bed at the same time and getting 7 or 8 hours of sleep will help keep your snoring in check. When your sleep pattern is interrupted your breathing will become unbalanced which can cause snoring. Noises from your bed partner or other things will also cause unbalanced breathing and snoring. Try to make your sleeping area as quiet as possible. Sometimes soothing sounds or white noises from a recording will help mask other disturbing sounds.

5. Sleeping Positions-Due to gravity pulling on their tongue and throat muscles, people who sleep on their backs usually have more problems with snoring than ones who sleep on their sides. Along with the gravity the throat is in a more restful position, which causes parts of the throat and tongue to drop down and restrict the air flow cause a person to snore.

By sleeping in an elevated position there will be some relief. The recommended amount is about 30 degrees. With this elevation your diaphragm is relaxed and the tongue won't restrict the air flow through the throat area.

Medical Problems-There are a number of medical conditions that can cause snoring. Allergies for instance can cause swelling or inflammation of the air passage. Adenoids and tonsils are also cause of snoring especially if they are large. Many time a cold or sinus condition will block your nose causing you to breathe through you mouth which can cause you to snore.

If you do experience a block nasal passage you can use a spray to clear it so you won't be forced to breath through your mouth and probably end up snoring. Nasal strips are another aid that may help you breath through your nose rather than your mouth.

If you still snore after trying these things you may want to explore surgery, depending on how much snoring is affecting your life as well as those around you. Of course I would think of surgery as a last resort but sometimes it is necessary for your health.

A Stop Snoring Solution That Works

April 25th, 2009

The Number One Stop Snoring E-Book!
by Dennis James

My wife has gone through many sleepless nights putting up with the noise I used to make every night. She has punched me in the side hundreds of times and pulled her pillow over her head most nights. Locating a stop snoring solution that worked was no easy task even for me an internet search junkie. We had gotten pretty discouraged over my snoring.

We tried just about every thing short of surgery to eliminate my snoring problem. I wore those sticky nose strips that either came off during the night or left red splotches on my nose for hours in the morning.

I remember some sort of stop snoring spray that she brought home one day. The bottle said just one spray to the back of the throat and all your snoring will be gone. The only thing that was gone was our $15 and it tasted terrible.

I am a back sleeper, no not a back stabber, a back sleeper a big difference. Unfortunately most snorers a sleep on their backs. Part of the problem is that dreaded uvula again. It hangs down when on your back and helps to block the airways which is the major cause of snoring. So we tried to line pillows up so that I would sleep on my side. I hated those pillows messing with my sleep so I ended up tossing them.

Finally after a lot of searching on the Internet and talking with some friends online I found a stop snoring solution that actually worked. Realize that it was not a simple fix I did have to commit to the program to actually see results.

In order to give my lovely wife the needed nights rest I was willing to give up such a small sacrifice of a few minutes a day to do some exercises that really worked. Besides since I no longer receive those punches in the back to roll over I get a much better nights rest.

In order to stop the house vibrations every night I followed through with some simple exercises that actually cured my snoring. My breathing passage ways remain open during the night and no more blockages that cause the noise. This stop snoring solution is the cat's meow.

The exercises I am talking about do not wear you out so do not be afraid of them. In fact most of them can be done while you work or play or watch television. Simple movements of the jaw, tongue and throat that do wonders for the nightly noise. Most of them just become a habit and you do not even realize that you are doing them.

The Cause Of Snoring And How To Cure It

April 13th, 2009

The Number One Stop Snoring E-Book!
Christian Goodman writes,

istock_000009145561xsmall2If you and your spouse suffer from horrible snoring, You are not alone. 23% of couples suffer seriously from this terrible condition.

The problem isn't just the irritation of staying awake the whole night or waking up from a spouse's elbow over and over again. Not getting enough rest is simply life threatening.

If you drive a car or cross a street, for example, you’ve to have full attention and energy.

It’s also life threatening because your whole emotional and physical balance will suffer. Nerves breakdown, stroke, and heart-attack are only three examples.

You’ve probably tried several things to eliminate this devastating condition. You would probably do anything to get a good night sleep. But you haven’t had any success, have you?

Don't Wait Find Out More Here!

To be able to cure your snoring, you must know what causes it.

There is only one underlying cause for snoring. There are always some kind of blockages in the breathing passages, which make the airflow irregular.

When the breathing passage is blocked, the airflow (breathing) becomes irregular, not smoothly flowing like it should be.

This irregular airflow slams the soft tissues in your breathing passages around like a door in a wind. Your throat and mouth become like speakers, powered by powerful quantifier and your partner can’t sleep.

The noise becomes really bad when the soft palate (a flexible part of the back of the roof of the mouth) also begins to vibrate. Sometimes, if the soft palate is weak, then the tip of it will bang down on the tongue (which may be dropping into the throat at the same time) like a bongo drum.

The real loud sound happens when the soft palate (the flexible back part of the roof of the mouth) starts to vibrate. And sometimes the tip of it will even start beating on the tongue (which may also be falling into the throat) like a drum.

It can be very complicated to cure snoring despite the fact, it only has one main cause. The reason is that the blocks vary so much. And what’s worse, most people have more than one type of block, causing their snoring.

Here are just few examples of what can cause your snoring…

1) If your throat is weak, it will close like a squeezed plastic bottle. This is believed to be the no1 cause of sleep apnea.

2) Weak tongue also falls into the throat and block it. This is very common if you sleep on your back but can also happen when sleeping on your site.

3) Tense jaw muscles put pressure on the breathing passages. This is what many dentist try to deal with by putting in dental implant. An easier way to avoid this is loosing up and relaxing the jaw muscles.

3) The Jaw may press on the breathing passage narrowing it. Often this is because of tension in the muscles around the Jaw that press it out of its normal healthy position.

4) Floppy, weak soft palate bang around like leaf in a wind. Some snoring surgeries deal with this by cutting of part of the soft palate or putting small plastic implants in it to make it firmer. Simple moving it in the right way few times a day will keep it firm and prevent it from flopping.

6) Anything that builds up in the throat like far or tar from cigarettes. This will block the throat.

These are only 6 common blocks but there are many more.

Of course there can be endless other kinds of blocks in the breathing area.

But the big question is; how can we get rid of these blocks?

I guess when you look at it, it’s just a common sense. I’ve found that you can train this part of your body like any other part. Working out the breathing passages.

You’re of course not going for a heavy workout. You don’t kill a fly on your friends head with a sledge hammer. I’m talking about light, easy, simple exercises that get your breathing passage in top shape.

This is very fragile area so the exercises are fine tuned and do not demand much effort, only commitment for few weeks.

Using few exercises, each focused on one area in and around your throat, will remove ANY block you have. No matter what’s causing your snoring.

You’ll actually strengthen and open up the whole breathing passage, from your throat up to the nasal opening.

What you will do is strengthening the whole breathing passage and the area around it.

Loosing up the Jaw, using the jaw exercises will remove any tension from it. You’ll be surprised how much easier you’ll breath after you do the Jaw exercises.

The neck and shoulder exercises do the last trick. They remove tension from your neck and shoulders. Tension there leads to tension in all muscles around your head and throat. So it’s very good to loosen these muscles up.

And finally, the throat exercises will strengthen the throat and lift the soft palate.

The Training Doesn't Take Much Effort

For even quicker and better results, commit to 7-12 minutes a day and see what happens. The results are permanent, so once you’re cured, you never have to do this again.

I’ve seen people treat their snoring in as little as couple of days. Few weeks is more the norm tough. If you commit to 7-12 minutes a day for couple of months, you’re pretty much guaranteed to be snore free before that time is up.

It varies a lot between people how quickly the exercises work. I recommend that you be ready to work the program for two months. The program will most likely stop your snoring quicker than that. But if you’re ready to give it full blast for two months, you’re guaranteed to cure your self.

Snoring is putting such a strain on many relationships. Many people have been forced to sleep separately. Other have learned to live with it but there is always a hidden resentment. I hope you give the exercises a try. I hope you give me the benefit of the doubt to try commit to working the exercises for few weeks. And I promise you, there will be nothing but quiet, restful nights in your future.

If you want to learn more about these exercises and try some out for FREE, then You can find the exercises program I developed and has helped so many people to stop snoring here...

Christian Goodman is the founder of The Stop Snoring Exercise Program (www.TheStopSnoringExerciseProgram.com). The program has helped thousands of people to stop snoring without having to undertake dangerous surgery, dental implant or having to buy and use drugs every day.Click Here for The Number One Stop Snoring E-Book!
